What is a School Visit?

A School Visit is a collaborative service where psychologists attend your child’s school to observe, consult, and provide recommendations. By seeing the child in their everyday learning environment, we can better understand challenges and strengths, and work alongside teachers to create strategies that work both at school and at home.

Who Is It For?

School visits are most helpful when children or teens need support with:

  • Learning difficulties and classroom engagement

  • Social skills, peer interactions, and friendships

  • Behaviour challenges or emotional regulation at school

  • Transitioning to new classes, schools, or learning environments

  • Building communication between parents, teachers, and support staff

What Happens in a School Visit?

  • Pre-visit consultation: parent intake to clarify goals and concerns

  • In-school observation: psychologist attends class or playground to observe learning, behaviour, and social interactions

  • Teacher consultation: feedback and practical strategies are shared with teachers

  • Written summary report: available upon request to support individual learning plans

  • Follow-up with parents: debrief and discuss strategies for consistency across home and school

FAQs

Q2: How long is a school visit?
Typically 90-120 minutes, depending on the child’s needs and school timetable.

Q3: Will teachers receive recommendations?
Yes. We provide practical, easy-to-implement strategies for teachers. A written summary can also be provided if requested.

Q4: How does it benefit my child?
School visits ensure consistent support across home and school, helping children feel more secure and supported in their learning environment.

Q5: Do you accept funding or rebates?
Yes. NDIS (Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living) is accepted. Some private health and Medicare rebates may apply.
